It isn't a Grandfather clock, but it is my Father's Grandfather's clock.
He brought it (apparently) in a market in the 1920's - probably second hand.
It has been doctored at the hand's of my father who (horror of horrors) wrapped the sides in wall paper, and I think it would originally have had a base to sit on a mantlepiece.
Nowadays, whoever comes on Saturday (changeover day for carers) has the job of winding it, but the chimes remain unwound so as not to disturb anyone through the night.
And how, I have doctored the photograph I took, for no other reason than to play around in the photoshop phone app. Like father, like daughter. So they say.
What a beautiful clock, and its history makes it all the more special. I love how your processing and composition help to give the clock its deserved sense of importance.
I love old clocks. My dad was an old fashion clock maker. We had in our basements/hallway many clocks in repair. They all should do their dong dong at the same time but that never happened lol. It brings back fine memories :)
you can use this in composites. this is so lovely even at its present state and i'm sure the photoshop should be credited for it. i love how you processed this to look magical and mysterious. aces!
i love old clocks, we used to have one at home when we were little children, apparently a standing grandfather clock whose casing was used (horrors of horrors!) as fire kindling when my father's aunt's husband passed away destitute but father rescued the clock and its movement.
@summerfield - well your story of disrespect for the clock beats mine! I am fond of this clock. At home we have a full length grandfather clock which belonged to my husbands grandmother, but it does not have the attractive design that this one does.
