Not sure what possessed me to go monochrome with a butterfly, but I did, and I quite like the result. As part of the points of view competition, having spent some considerable time in the morning, amongst wet grass looking for insects and only finding spiders, I was relieved when the sun came out during the afternoon and I found a little spinny where a few butterflies revealed themselves.
So this could go into the monochrome, or the insects category. Or it might be too obscure for either.
No- I think it qualifies for both quite well. It's good to put things we normally associate with color into black and white every once in a while. It helps us to really SEE them again. What struck me here was the great contrast between the markings and the bulk of the wings- especially with the luminosity. And I like the minimal composition too. Well done!
