Housed in the church of Our Lady, this small marble sculpture was the only work of Michael Angelo to have left Italy in his lifetime. It was taken away a couple of times and both times recovered and returned to Bruges.
They even made a film about the recovery of the statue from the Nazis - it is called The Monuments Men.
I'm glad we saw it, and appreciated the celebrated skill of its maker.
