I took the dogs for a lovely walk near a small village called Knapwell early this morning, as fine drizzle gave way to soft sunlight. This hub of retro communication technology stands on the High Street; post-box, phone-box (amazingly, it looks to be in working order, unlike most) and on the wall behind the phone-box, a village notice-board. The farmhouse is a lovely old brick building - although a bit short of windows on this side! Taking the dogs for long walks is not only for fun; it's work too - honest! By the time I got back to the car I'd worked out a devious plot twist for Book 6; Moo ha ha!
And to think that there was a time when the construction of that "modern" phone box outside this barn would have seemed too invasive for a bucolic life.
Oh! I remember using one a few of those in London to call my family back home! The were lovely... well, until the day I was followed in by a European Wasp. Not the most fun I've had in a confined space with a ticked-off insect. :/
There is a strip-mall where I live that imported and installed those exact same phone booths as purely ornamental. Coincidentally I posted a picture of it today! http://365project.org/mrjacob/365/2010-07-08
lol I'm looking through your photos and I saw that phone box today. What a coincidence. My 365 project picture today is the phonebox at Boxworth that is being used for a book exchange!! I'm going to have a look through the rest of your photos to see if I recognise anything else. Great picture by the way :)))
