Tranquil Moment

Cycling into Cambridge this morning to work in the library, I stopped on Garret Hostel bridge and looked along the river. By late morning it will be a punting frenzy but at 9 am all is still tranquil. This lady was making the most of the early morning sunshine and peace and quiet to enjoy her book. I really envied her - it would be the perfect day to sit outside in the sun reading a book instead of sitting inside writing one!
The day has had a literary theme. This evening I went with six friends to the opening dinner of the Women's Word event at Lucy Cavendish college. Sandi Toksvig was the after-dinner speaker and she was very very funny. Along with good food and wine and friends, it was a lovely, lovely evening.
This is a lovely lovely picture .see you later.

What a beautiful scene & I love the tranquillity of it ..the soft greens, the water & the lady doing what I love best !! I like the way the weir is just showing & the sunlight shining through ! Happy Birthday for tomorrow !!

This is gorgeous Helen - I love the angle you took it from - it really brings out the plants in that wall and the reflections from the bridge. Happy Birthday!!
