I apologise for yet another snow and dog combination! But today was the first day we've had sunshine since the snow fell last week, and I couldn't resist snapping away as walked them in the woods this morning. As they frolicked around, snow was fluttering down from the branches, catching in the sunshine like glitter. It was a winter wonderland....that was until I suddenly noticed a trail of blood-spattered paw prints in the snow and things took a turn for the Gothic. I finally untangled the three dogs from their rabbit-hunting and found that Maia had a nasty gash on her back paw. She didn't seem to have noticed - her feet were probably must have been numbed by the snow (I've often wondered how dogs avoid getting frostbite!) but I had to bundle them all home and take her to the vet. Luckily no stitches were required, just a clean-up and a bandage. Maia is mortified - a bright red bandage on her leg is not at all befitting to the image of an elegant hunter-princess!
Poor Maia!! And it really was a beautiful morning! Looks like you were making the most of it until calamity struck. I was reading something vaguely the other day about dogs feet staying warm - I don't think cats' do - they tiptoe around! Monty is licking his & making them sore again - I think they go mouldy and sore in the damp - expensive last time! You're right - that could have been a really long walk home if Maia had hurt herself half way around yesterday!
