A fabulous long walk through the snowy ridges, woods and fields of North West Essex this morning with Judith, Jenna, Karen and the dogs. Here Karen is zooming in on a hare (one of many) hopping around in the distance. The dogs have seen it too and Maia gives chase. Seconds after I took this picture Monty went after the hare too, but what's this? A herd of deer meandering along the brow of the hill? After some nail-biting moments and the equivalent of the dog marathon, Monty returns at last, looking very pleased with himself. Not that the deer took much notice of him!
Walking through frozen snow is hard work so we were all ready for lunch at the Elmdon Dial - which definitely wins the prize for dog-friendly pub of the year - all three collies flopped down under our table, although Monty was banished to the car for his own good! - while we tucked into steak and mushroom puddings.
It's snowing again now!
i love the simplicity in this! great shot.

Oh fab shot! And it's got my well-behaved dog in it - standing next to the person who clearly has some doggy authority as opposed to his owner!!
