Radio Cambridgeshire

After a morning's appointment at school to discuss Will's GCSE options I headed into Cambridge to be a guest on Radio Cambridgeshire. The presenter is Sue Dougan (on the left in the picture) and the other guest was a lovely and multi-talented lady called Sue Bevan, who has published a memoir, is writing three novels and teaches economics. The format of the show is that we just chat about our interests and some general issues of the day. I was very nervous the first time I went on in December, but Sue is such a warm, friendly person and a skilled presenter, seamlessly steering the conversation while at the same time co-ordinating records and weather reports and reading incoming messages from listeners, that I felt quite at ease this time (so at ease, in fact, I was almost late and had to resort to some very dodgy double parking!). Those bright orange walls in the studio were a welcome blast of colour on another leaden-skied day.

Three Good Things
(I've been neglecting this part lately, not, I hasten to add for the want of anything good to list, but for lack of time to get the words out).

1. Will getting rave reviews from his options advisor ("you can be an astronaut if you want to"). I knew that of course, but it's lovely to hear it from someone else.
2. A lovely afternoon chatting with Sue and Sue.
3. Will and his friend offered to take the dogs out for a walk without even being asked so I didn't have to go straight back out when I got back from the radio thing.
Well you didn't tell us to listen! Rebecca's husband was on Radio 3 playing live piano last week and she kept that quiet too. How am I supposed to know that I have to retune from Radio 4 when nobody tells me?! Looks like a fun day - I quite fancy a radio show - somewhere that wants a Lancashire accent!
