I met my friend Susan when we lived in Oregon almost 10 years ago now - we had both signed up for a fund-raising sponsored climb of Mount Hood and spent many happy hours together yomping up and down hills on training hikes, and then roped together in our trusty team of four for the actual climb. It was lovely to spend an afternoon with her in Cambridge during her flying visit to Britain to visit her son who is studying in Oxford. We did a mini-tour of Cambridge taking in Kings College, the backs, corpus clock, The Eagle and Fitzbillies, but mostly just talked solidly for two hours.
