This covered bridge used to be a part of the entrance to a yarn store in Nashua, NH. When the store closed, the town of Brookline, NH, saved it, moving it to some old abutments on the Nissitissit River. I drove 45 minutes and walked through to get these pictures for the Bridges Theme!
@terryliv There are a lot of covered bridges here. I don't know for certain, but I would venture to guess that it's to help protect the bridge and keep it from rotting quickly. We get a lot of snow up here. We've had nearly 6 feet of snow this season (2 meters).
@luvmynynix Really? It's in Brookline, NH, but it used to be Nashua. It's a really cool bridge. They were driving their trucks out on the lake nearby to fish. My husband and boys went fishing near the Maine border. The ice was 26 inches thick still.
@linnypinny Thanks!
@joansmor They are every where! I've even found a few that have been built recently, which is fabulous.
