Every year we do a brunch for Easter. When we lived in the Netherlands we celebrated it with Norbert's (husband) family. Their tradition was to smash the eggs together. The person with the broken egg needs to eat his/her egg and the other can continue.
His family is big and there used to be baskets full of boiled eggs, however as a joke there were a few raw eggs in between...
We are only with the 4 of us here now, but smashing the eggs is still something they enjoy - just look at Demyan and Yelena's smiles...
How lovely that the tradition continues. This has evoked some memories for me as when I was a child we used to have egg rolling competitions at school where you had to smash your opponents eggs by rolling them towards each other.
