We were really lucky to spot these two great black- backed gull chicks today, they're so well camouflaged, but they were standing on top of the rocks as we passed by. One chick seemed to think it was time to test out its wings while the other looked on, completely bemused.
As we were in the far north of Shetland yesterday it seemed only right to go to the most southern tip today, we walked along the coast for a couple of miles and visited Sumburgh Lighthouse. We couldn't actually see the lighthouse as it was shrouded in fog but there were plenty of puffins around on the cliffs so that made up for the weather. Just a few more photos to sort out when we get home!
Hahaha, what a fabulous shot, Christine. As soon as I saw this, I saw my Grandmonster's. The older one, Willow at the back is looking on with disdain at her sisters silly antic's and thinking along the lines of " Kara you are making a show of yourself".
Apart from the silliness, this is a wonderful capture, great composition and perfect timing showing what baby birds need to learn.
