monument to Joe Louis

if you have ever been to Detroit you probably have seen this..."Monument to Joe Louis" is a bronze sculpture dedicated in the boxer's memory (a Detroit Native) which is suspended at Woodward and Jefferson downtown. It is a very controversial sculpture as I guess any art piece can be. I have always seen it as a symbol of strength. You can read more about Joe Louis here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joe_Louis I am using this as part of my get pushed challenge this week. Jenny @jlindros " I want you to capture whatever you want. But I want your focus to be hope, joy, love, comfort, etc.. Whatever helps you to escape." Photography does that and getting to take a photo of something that I have wanted to photograph for a while now gives me joy and helps me escape if only for a short period of time!
Jenny @jlindros this is the first of my photos for my get pushed challenge. Photography is my escape. I was very happy to be able to get this photograph which was on my list of captures I have yet to get!

@samzee @dmcoile @cheekylulu @deak68 it's funny that part of downtown except for the stoplights is kind of black and white! It is a very strong sculpture at least IMHO. Others don't see it that way. thanks for the comments and views!

Great shot, Jakie! I love the lighting and the black and white definitely emphasizes the drama. It reminds me of the hulk hands at toy stores.
