this is a large hotel in our area. used to be a Ritz but I believe it changed hands. I went to high tea there once with friends and the concierge gave us a tour of the rooms. the carpet was specifically loomed for the hotel and was rejected the first time it was sent because there was too much white flecking in it. depending on the room you had there were different kinds of marble in the bathrooms...the more expensive the room the more expensive the marble...this was almost 25 years ago when we went. at that time it was mighty impressive that they had telephones in the bathrooms. the tea was fun but the thing I remember most was that the liquid soap in the restroom was the best smelling soap I had ever used. I am easily amused.
The sun flare adds a touch of 'ritz' to this picture. (How funny that the aroma of the soap is the best remembered thing of your tour. It's like that sometimes, that an unusual thing makes the biggest impression.)

Nice sun flare, and I enjoyed your description of this hotel! If you think about it, 25 years ago the liquid soaps didn't really smell that great so I can see that making an impression on you. Doesn't sound like you're odd to me, maybe you you just enjoy life's simple pleasures, I do too. :)
