We went early so that some of the buildings weren’t completely inaccessible… the beautiful bronzes are relatively new and made by Igor Mitoray. The Vesuvius is prominent there in two shots. The bottom row shows two frescoes: A fresco painting with snake, Mercury and peacock on a wall of Lararium in House of Cryptoporticus and the other is part of the fresco of Greek Gods at the Thermopolium (a small cook-shop where hot food was sold).
Beautiful collage. You know at what time you have entered there but not at what time you will go out. So much to see and contemplate about when in there.
I love this. I’m kind of stuck writing a novel about Pompeii for a few years now. I wrote one first with two girls communicating through time about their travels 250 years apart on the Oregon Trail, and then started one wit( two boys, one in Pompeii and one in Portland just before Mt St Helen’s erupted. My health has bogged me down and your pictures make me want to get back into it. I need to go myself, to feel the air, smell and hear the atmosphere
@pandorasecho curious about your first novel….. understand the need to feel the atmosphere your self hope you are able to finish your manuscript one day!
