White WInged Dove by jamibann

White WInged Dove

I loved this fella's blue eye! Taken from my bedroom window again. I hope my neighbours don't think I'm spying on them as I lean out my first floor window with my camera!
Oh, he's lovely! Nice clear shot.

@featherstone Thanks Sue - I actually thought it was a mourning dove, but I googled it, and I believe it's a white winged dove. Would you agree?

Yes. I've seen them down here in Texas.

haha! I'm famous in the hood for being the crazy bird lady. I've removed the screens from some second floor windows and I'll lean on out to get my shots! Or, I'm chasing them all over the yard! This is a great shot. I've only seen mourning doves the Eurasian Collared Dove.

lol I've often thought the same thing when I'm leaning out of the window with my camera......I wonder if the neighbours think I'm taking a photo to back up a report I'm making about them (I'm not making any reports btw :-) Beautiful capture.....I love his eyes and feathers :-)

So pretty and love his eyes. All puffed up, is it cold with you?

@wind_of_the_sothern_sea @ch1ppy_m1nton @killeen Thanks chaps! @allisonraposa @darylo Yes, the leaning out the window aspect is interesting. I now know that my neighbours behind me have two labrador dogs, which I had never seen through the fence at the back. They must be very well behaved as we never hear them. I've removed the screens from that particular window too Daryl! :-) @lucypics Lucy, it's cold for Houston. Nothing like as cold as it is further north, but the birds are not used to it, so they are pretty puffed up at the moment.

Wow those eyes are amazing, I wonder what colour the doves eyes are here. Will have to try and get a pic of the doves that visit our garden to see.

I love the blue around his eye, this is a wonderful capture, with great detail and tones.

Wonderful dove -- and you're so lucky to have this outside your window! The blue eye really is a special component of the shot.

What a lovely shot. That puffed up chest is impressive. :)

@ziggy77 @paulaw @almondjoy1 @carolyns @mtpagano @milaniet @sansjuan @taffy @gailmmeek Thanks everyone - he sits in my neighbour's tree, so as long as I can see his face through the branches, I can usually get a decent shot of him!

@joeymc @lynnz Thanks!

I love the eye colour too. I know what you mean about worrying about the neighbours thinking you are stalking them. I have had that worry a few times myself. Fortunately they all know what I am like now.
February 7th, 2014
@jantan Ha ha, yes I know the lady next door to me (in whose tree this bird is sitting), but I'm afraid that the neighbours behind (who are most likely to see me) don't know me at all, because access is only from the front of the houses. They probably just think I'm a weirdo with the bedroom window wide open in all weather and me hanging out to take photos now and again!
