We went to a show last night at the Château de Versailles. It was only an hour long, but absolutely wonderful - an extravaganza of light, classical music and fireworks. I have no photos to do it justice, but this is one which came out reasonably well.
I arrived at the event, armed with camera & tripod, having checked out the best camera settings for the fireworks, and was just setting up my tripod, discreetly in front of me, when they announced 'no photographs or recording of any kind'. So, there I was with all the kit, and not allowed to take photographs. However, as they are want to do in France, most people ignored the instructions and took loads of photos with phones, so, once it was dark I sneaked the camera back out and took a few shots. Hand held, so not great, but a memento of the occasion, nonetheless.
It looks like it was a superb show! I am always saddened by the fact that you are not allowed to use your camera but all around you are happily snapping away with their phones.
As you wrote the story, I started out being jealous that you were allowed to take photos, as we would NEVER be able to do that here, and then you got to the part where in fact no... not you either... great fun this photo. So wonderful when you get to a good show.
