Storm Corrie by jamibann

Storm Corrie

Storm Malik seemed to pass through with minimal damage in our area, but although storm Corrie was shorter and sharper it seems to have done more damage. Many people around us lost electricity for 3 days however, and I believe some are still not reconnected. Dad's care home were running on a generator for 3 days but are now back on grid. We were lucky and were only out of power for 20 hours.

I walked around the golf course yesterday afternoon, and was gutted to see the tree damage there - above is just one example. Then I saw my friend Alison's garden. A big tree from their front drive has been uplifted by the roots, and fallen onto their neighbour's house, during the night. No-one was injured, but it is yet to be seen what damage is done to the roof of her neighbour's house once the tree has been removed.

Stay safe everyone!
Storms can be so devastating, it’s sad to see. I hope everyone is safe

Mother nature can be so cruel, I take it that it's our fault for treating her so badly! Good that nobody was injured.

Good gracious, the wind must have been so strong….trees are so beautiful but can be lethal as a weapon.

The damage will be a long time in clean up. Glad that you stayed safe.

It’s a shame to see so much damage. Hopefully Alison’s neighbour’s house is not too damaged. Thank goodness nobody was hurt.

Oh dear. The winds are taking a toll on the old trees that seem to have had too little or too much water in the last number of years.

That's what the weather people say we're looking at tomorrow night - tree limbs down from ice. So sad to see

It's so sad to see this and so many others like it! And even more difficult when a property is damaged.
