In early July, we lost our beautiful not quite seven year old bullmastiff, Rhoda Bug, to osteosarcoma (bone cancer). It was fast and relentless. I will always miss Rhoda - she was my heart dog.
Fast forward - Quincy needed a buddy - and things fell into place to put Holly Hound on our horizon. Long story - but we brought her home four weeks ago. She and Quincy are best buddies. Holly is 12 months and Quincy is 14 months - 65lbs and 141lbs. I am hoping they calm down as they mature.
Lots of challenges but we are getting there.
By golly - they will be a handful! You obviously liked the breed bullmastiff! Such a funny expression on his face! It made me smile! Love to know what they are like!
Thanks Maggiemae! Seems like I was just posting pics of Quincy as a baby. We do like bullmastiffs - Quincy is our third. We lost both Huckleberry and Rhoda Bug to cancer. They are very sweet natured dogs and because we live in a pretty rural area, their size and deep bark is a good deterrent if needed. Quincy is so gentle with children - I have had several breeds and mutts over the years and the bullmastiffs are the ones I would trust over all others. I never have to worry about kids hugging or climbing on him (not that I allow climbing on him), except where the wagging tail is concerned.
What beautiful dogs! I'm sorry when I read of your recent loss -- it's so hard to lose one of the family, which of course they become. I know Holly Hound will bring you (and Quincy) much joy!
I have been wondering how you are doing! Now I see you were busy with the new baby! She looks beautiful and like such a good friend for Quincy! I'm sure they will be very entertaining for you! Good to see you posting!
Hi Jan! These two are looking gorgeous and clearly full of bundles of energy! I remember you losing Huckleberry, it was so sad. Quincy looks right at home tho with holly! Hope you are keeping well.
I'm so sorry you lost Rhoda, it's so hard to lose a dear friend. I always think the best memorial to an animal who has died is to adopt another one, so I'm glad you have Holly. This is a wonderful capture of her with Quincy and a fav for me.
