it never ceases to amaze me that it could be comfortable to sleep standing up, but doing it on one leg..........................
Terrible night's sleep, nothing unusual there, but my reason for it being terrible was novel. I managed to convince myself that the alarm on my iPad wasn't going to go off. Completely unfounded of course.
Reckon Graham must have been tired when he woke up too. When he was buttoning up his shirt I pointed out to him that he was in fact wearing a dress shirt complete with pin-pleats down the front. It was tempting not to tell him and wait for his panicked phone call later in the day when he realised, but I didn't have the heart.
His company has 'dress down Friday' where every Friday people go in to work dressed in casual clothes. I wondered for a moment if they had introduced 'evening dress Monday' to balance things out.
Oil delivery today, the only thing we use oil for is heating, and last filled up at the end of November, so that means we have spent £700 on heating in the past two months - terrifying! Until about a year ago I didn't ever really think about the cost of fuel, but these days it is difficult not to, especially when I went and filled my car up this evening and a full tank of diesel cost £103 - the world has gone mad..............
Fish and chips for tea because the Aga has been switched off for the day so I could clean it - Yum!!!
How hysterical..you should have kept mum!! The things we do, I have been out with odd shoes on!! Fuel and logs, we have 2 wood burners £90 every 2 weeks in really cold weeks.....horrifying..........love your balancing duck!!
I wonder what makes them do that - I'm sure there's an explanation. Love the focus on the feathers. Seems to me the cost of living is very high in England. I'm horrified by those numbers.
This is a beautiful shot of a duck Jan; the feathers, the stance, the light and colours. Perfect and a fav.
Until I read the last line I did wonder why you were spending as much in oil as us, the word AGA said it all. Our Aga consumes the oil like you wouldnt believe. We have just spend £900 and hope it will last 4 months but that is doubtful!
Lovely unconventional shot of a duck. I had a disaster with tea today. I made a casserole at lunchtime and put it in the top oven of the aga, intending to move it to the bottom oven 20 minutes later. Of course I forgot and came home this evening to the charcoaled remains, so then I had to start cooking all over again.
@dh Oh yes, all very familiar. We left some parsnips in one Christmas day and didn't find them for nearly a week. It honestly took me about an hour to work out what they were. A friend of mine's husband once stuck a plate of fried breakfast on the wall in their kitchen after she discovered it in the warming oven after a few days
With you on the cost of fuel .... Crazy !!
