There is a moon there somewhere, but I think you will have to view large to see it.
I went straight to Chesterton Mill after dropping the boys at their bus stops this morning because I wanted to put my camera through its paces following Sam knocking it off the table onto the stone floor in the kitchen last night. Do you know, I am sure I have told him that throwing a rugby ball around in the house isn't a good idea before. In fact I think I have mentioned it more than once...........
Anyway, fortunately all seems OK.
Blimey it was cold up there, my fingers were in agony.
Home to sort the animals out and then a bit of tidying up followed by at trip to my Mum and Dad's for lunch and a chat. Managed to fix their laptop which impressed them no end. Didn't want to quash their parental pride by admitting that I have no idea how I did it, so didn't tell them.
Home to do the afternoon rounds of the animals (got a donk with an abscess on his muzzle at the moment, which seems to be getting better - hooray!) and then a trip to Stratford to go to Waitrose and pick Angus up from his history revision course at school.
Had a good old (utterly futile) nag at the children this evening mainly regarding them never putting dirty clothes in the wash basket - is it actually any easier to put it on the floor next to the basket rather than in it? and lack of 'botheredness' about upcoming GCSEs and music exams. Followed this up with a bit of a sulk at Graham for his lack of 'excitedness' about my suggestion of how we could celebrate my Dad's up-coming 75th birthday. Trouble is I am not sure he noticed that I was sulking - must try harder next time.
What an amazing looking building/mill. When I first saw the small version I thought it was some sort of surreal photoshop creation! Wonderful shot, building and landscape.FAV
Very nice Jan. Cameras are tough. We dropped our 5D out of the back of the car when it was only about a month old, ops, wont be doing that again, fortunately no damage done.
I spy the moon! Fabulous mill and glad the camera is ok as this came out really well!! My girls when they were younger used to try on clothes then couldn't be bothered to hang them up again so dumped them in the bin......clean!! Sounds a fairly typical family evening ha ha !!
Lovely hot, and I love your diary entries! Are gcses your English equivalent of standards... Sat at about age 15? My son is about to do his, but no sense of urgency or importance about the events! Just wants to play on his play station. Think am going to have to remove his IT privileges in the run up to exams... But am too scared of the conflict to broach the subject as yet!!!
@gillg Gill, they do sound like the same exams, sat at about 15 to 16 years of age. Same thing here, just substitute x box for playstation. I know exactly what you mean about the conflict!
@photosbyjon Thanks Jon, I think you will find it worth the trip, especially early or late on a nice day, you can actually see it from the M40. There are a few more shots in my albums (Jan and Sept 2012) if you want to see some other views
What a lovely old mill and a Fav. I remember it well from when my children were young about the dirty clothes and men just don't get excited about much either. You have my sympathies but at least you sound as though you can still smile! At least your camera hasn't suffered any permanent damage
Fabulous building Jan but best of all is your hilarious narrative of everyday family life!! To read that is a treat in itself & of course has to be a fave!!
Well I'm faving your fab photo. And I can't believe your camera survived that. I sometimes think that if I wasn't present there would be balls flying round the house all the time (Nigel and Rachel actually the worst culprits but Adam has been known to knock hockey balls round my kitchen cupboards) to say nothing of anything vaguely stick-like being waved around in mid air in karate moves. Just wondering what's the chance of a French revision site being used now the England Brazil game is on..... Ho hum. I can recommend stamping your foot and shouting!
At first I did not think that building was for real! Beautiful image, the lighting is superb.
Boy, does that sound familiar! NO throwing in the house! Glad your camera is ok!
Gorgeous image and beautiful composition and lighting. Glad you camera survived. I wasn't so lucky when my son dropped my camera on a hard floor. :( At least I was able to upgrade after that. :)
Incredible shot. I know what the others mean - it almost doesn't look real. Glad donk-abscesses are on the mend.
Feel odd about your tales of teen-nagging. Until oh-so-recently I would instinctively have sympathised with the nagged, despite my advancing age. Now I've jumped a generation, all of a sudden. Argh.
This is wonderful large and I saw the moon! Loved your description of your day....gave me a chuckle. Fav on the photo...it would look wonderful on a wall!
That is incredible! As others have stated, it does look like a Photoshop creation, but that fact that it is REAL makes it even more fabulous. And the fact that you live near something this remarkable makes me extremely jealous. ;-)
It would make a good jigsaw puzzle IMO.
Thank goodness your camera survived the indoor rugby match. Boys are such.....BOYS! LOL
Regarding their dirty clothes never quite landing in the laundry basket: Only wash what is in the basket. When they run out of clean clothes, they'll get the idea.

And work on that sulking!
