A gorgeous morning, and Graham and I made a conscious decision to take some time out and smell the roses. Well, not literally but we had a very pleasant half an hour of sitting in the field admiring the view and the deafening birdsong, and then got on with the normal chores.
Graham got on with some work on his allotment and reported that he had seen lots of hatched grass snake eggs in the muck heap when he was getting some rotted manure to dig into the soil. That's great news although I haven't actually seen any snakes yet this year which is unusual by this date. I suspect they are around though because the number of tadpoles in our pond has taken a dramatic decline in the past couple of weeks and I suspect grass snake action of being the cause.
Beautiful Cotswold stone Jan & the perceptive here is very pretty. No grass snakes up here as far as I know, I have never heard of any. Good to sit think & take in the beauty of the world.
What a lovely spot to stop and relax.
It's not often that someone expresses happiness regarding an increase in snake population. They must perform a service that you welcome. :-)
