When I photographed a wedding last month, it was for the son of a friend of ours who has done us a lot of favours over recent years so I insisted on not charging them for what I did. I was very surprised to find a sum of money in the thank you card they sent me and I have used some of it to buy some extension tubes and a focusing rail.
The extension tubes arrived yesterday and although I was really short of time I couldn't resist having a quick play with them. I just went out of the kitchen and this damselfly landed on a leaf right in front on me and sat there for about ten minutes while I photographed it from about 8 inches away. I couldn't believe my luck.
Focusing with the extension tubes is really going to take quite a bit of getting used to, but I was quite pleased with this shot which was hand-held. Can't wait for my new focusing rail to arrive!
I was amazed to find out that I had won the latest technique challenge, with my water droplets shot. Many thanks to all who voted for me. I must admit I started to panic as I saw the votes mounting up, thinking that I might be going to have to host the next challenge and even worse pick the short list - gulp! I have come up with a couple of ideas, just need to decide which one to pick - all a bit nerve-wracking really.......
I can imagine.....in my wildest dreams I have tried to imagine what subject I could use for a challenge competition......enough to put me off entering!! Like @maggiemae it would be too much thinking!
I am just overwhelmed with your extension tube photo.....btw tubes are not tubes at all, I was imagining proper pipe things!
All a new ball game for me but I love seeing your results! I could fancy some tubes myself if they take pictures like this! An entry for a large international competition would be the place for this picture. Fav of course & a top 20 place in TT.
This is amazing - I've tried extension tubes and have had results NOTHING like this! Fav How's your neck - mine is sore but I know it's due to sticking my chin out - think I need new varifocals so I can look through the main part not the bottom!
Fabulous details. Well done on your win and good luck with those extension tubes although it looks as if you have the hang of them already...I was pretty pants at focusing with mine! xx
