A nice way to enter Krumau is to go under the multi-storeyed bridge spanning the moat. The open passage connects two courtyards of the castle. If you go up, you have a good overview of the city (see the previous photo).
The castle is one of the most important architectural monuments in Central Europe. The oldest written mention of the castle dates back to the 13th century: The Austrian knight and minstrel Ulrich von Liechtenstein immortalized it in his poem "Frauendienst" ("Service of Ladies").

It so impressive looking and the architecture is beautiful.

This is awesome, especially love the silhouette down the bottom and how my eye is drawn to it.

That's an amazing looking bridge. What are the building at the top used for - are they for soldiers protecting the castle/city?

Amazing light....it commands attention before the rest of the image. I love the little peep into Karmau at the bottom of the image. What an interesting composition. The name Ulrich is interesting to me too...you never see it here...but it is sprinkled throughout my mothers family history.

Great pov, lighting

I like the low POV and the way the village appears to be so tiny.

The warmth of the sky shouting out from each aperture and from the top of the bridge is so inviting. What an entry indeed - who could resist? A wonderful rendering.

@nickspicsnz Thanks for your nice visit!
The deepened and widened rock gap protected the castle. On the bridge, the city and the castle were well defended.
The upper, closed corridors connect the masks hall with the castle theater respectively the painting gallery with the castle garden. The upper passageway leads to the trusses of the castle roofs.

@nickspicsnz Thank you, Jocasta, for your kind comment!
I'm sure you can find a lot of information about Krumau on Google. It is a small, very manageable city. Dominant and very expansive in relation to it is the castle. It is an impressive building with a centuries-old history. The beauty of the city lies in the well-preserved ensembles of town houses and its nice location on the arched river.
