Yes Jane it’s a complete shoulder replacement, my options were very limited, I had very little movement and great pain. This is the first I need the other done too. I have deteriorated over the last 18 months, I was supposed to have the op last year as COVID hit so if I was in any doubt that extra waiting time made it evident that it was needing to be sorted. Mine was a reverse shoulder op because of the damage I had. This is just what it means, ball and socket reversed, I am 6 weeks down the line and improving although it’s up to the individual how progress goes and limitations of the op. Apparently a reverse op is more restrictive in movement because of the way the muscle is attached.
All I can say is the pain made the option of the op the right one for me. There was a time I thought I could manage if it stayed as it was but it progresses and gets worse, I made the right choice for me.
I hope you can come to a decision on what you want. Margaret
@craftymeg thanks much for your info. Thankfully mine doesn’t hurt unless I get it in the wrong position or do something like swimming that inflames it
