I was thrilled to see this kingfisher while we were kayaking this morning. It was overcast and pretty dark so the ISO was 12800, so the shot is way noisier than I would have liked. But I so rarely even get to see these unpredictable and fast fliers, that to get an in focus shot as well was a delight.

Wow, I have never shot at that high an ISO. Have you tried Topaz DeNoise?I use it often and love the results. It really smooths things out and sharpens a little at the same time.
I love kingfishers! You are right, they are so difficult to capture on "film" as they usually do not stick around long enough to catch. Great action shot!
