We went on a fabulous tide pool expedition with a very knowledgable leader. We learned how star fish eat mussels (see time lapse to see it in action https://www.shapeoflife.org/video/echinoderms-sea-star-time-lapse-eating-mussel) . They do it by first opening the mussel and then inserting their stomach into the shell and absorbing it that way before bringing their stomach back where it belongs!

This is a fantastic shot with beautiful color and detail. As a Pisces I am drawn to water life like this and want to visit Oregon specifically to see these kinds of tidal pool inhabitants.
