This morning before dawn we went down to the bay after huge winds and warnings of a big storm coming last eve. As soon as we got to the bay, we saw fins so we got on our gear and hopped on a kayak. Jim stayed on the kayak while I went swimming. Soon I was surrounded by a pod of 50-100 beauties. Luckily my underwater camera had miraculously recovered. My whole life I've wanted to swim with dolphins but had no interest in chasing them, nor swimming with them in captivity. I've been blessed with them coming two me not once, but three different days! Listening to their whistling, their breath inches from my ears, having them almost brush against my skin! I can't find the words. At one point I glanced back at Jim in the kayak and saw that there were two humpback whales playing 30 ft from his boat. Wish it were easier to keep my camera steady while swimming and bobbing in the waves and without my reading glasses!
@debbim Lumix Panasonic. I'm so grateful it fixed itself. The one I have isn't the latest model. It does take great pictures...just hard to see the screen without my reading glasses and the combo of my movement, the underwater life's movement and the wave action makes it hard to get great focus!
@sabanford It sounds like you've heard scary stories. I wonder if different kinds of dolphins are different. This bay is known for the spinner dolphins that make it home and their place to rest and play. There's never been anyone hurt even though they come almost close enough that it feels as if they are grazing your skin and I've seen them spinning in Themistocles snorkelers
