I really like this shot of him in his habitat even though I only had a 105mm lens on so the eye isn't as sharp as I like.

I just got back from photographing herons (trying to) and those boogers are jumpy! (At least around here) I found myself thinking "If I had a 500mm lens, maybe I could get shots like Jane's" Now I've looked at this and my little aspiring photographer heart is breaking. 105mm! :'''''( I had a 250 and I could not get closer than maybe 100 feet.
So, anyway, I have even more appreciation for your stealth and lens skills than I did previously! This shot has lovely composition with the snag and reflection, and I love the fresh green (and the heron is perfect)
