Junko Visitor

We seem to have successfully gotten rid of the huge rat that was climbing up our birdfeeder and destroying the wiring of our van, so it was time to put the feeder back up. The birds seem really happy about it.
One of the things I like about Oregon is that even though it rains a lot (we had 2" yesterday for example), often there are brief interludes. Usually I seize them for a much needed hike, but sometimes there are other pauses for photographs. This was taken during one of them.
Thanks much for your visits, comments, suggestions, favs
A sweet little bird, love the detail in his plumage :)

How cute the way it is clinging to the bud! Great timing! I really like that I can its eye so well. I often have difficulty getting a black eye to show up nicely when it is surrounded by black feathers. Very pretty picture!

@janetb I copied the background layer in PS, changed blend mode to screen, made a mask and inverted it to black so that all the screen mode copy was invisible and then painted in just the eye with white brush and then decreased the opacity until it looked realistic

Wow, Jane, you did a fabulous job! I do not know how to do any of that! I don't do a lot of editing/post-processing on my images, but 365 is definitely inspiring me to start. Thank you for the explanation!
