Calico Jail

We stopped at Calico on our trip. When Jim was a young kid he was camped near here with his family and wandered off one morning into a mine shaft. The family was panicked and went to search for him. Finally an uncle found him and yelled down to him not to move since he could easily have fallen into a hidden deep shaft. Luckily he was rescued!

Oh my word that must have been so worrying! I bet Jim remembers it too….very clearly! Those mines are so dangerous, some round the tin mining area of Southern England I think too.
