Looking for a New Mate? by jgpittenger

Looking for a New Mate?

This cute goose goes out to sea swimming every night and then comes back in to the place we have morning coffee and look to see if the dolphins are in the bay that day. When I get home I will make a collage of his swim, landing, cleansing ritual and prance. I call him the mariner goose. This morning he has gotten so comfortable with me that he climbed right up on my leg and sat there for quite a while. Apparently he showed up a couple of months ago seemingly having lost his mate. He'd be a really good provider so if you know of any goose looking for a really smart mate, let me know. This shot was taken by my husband, Jim, with my i-phone
Great shot - I like your new friend - I've never seen anything like this before though!

He is very tame Jane, he must be a bit lonely perhaps...do they mate for life do you know? Wish I had a spare goose for him, he looks a handsome fellow any self respecting girl would like to know!!!

I assume this is a Nene (Hawaiian Goose). Unbelievable that he can be so tame and that no one has harmed him. Great experience.

@rvwalker Not actually a Nene. We checked it out. Locals seem to have adopted him

How neat! What did it feel like to have webbed feet on your leg? Probably completely different from hawk talons, although his weight is perhaps similar. You both look very happy together, I hope Jim doesn't feel any anxiety...
