Institutum Romanum Finlandiae (Roman Institute of Finland) was our host & provided us with excellent guided tours in Rome. The Finnish state owns a gorgeous renaissance villa, Villa Lante, on the Gianicolo Hill and it's the home of the institute.
We got to visit it a couple of times and eight of my colleagues even stayed at the Villa for the whole two weeks. This was from one of the libraries of the villa. Rather pleasing to the eye and mind, it was. (And yay, I think I got the perspective fixed this time!)
Yes, I continue with my less than typical shots of Rome. ;)
@kanelipulla Heh, I think this was a "show off" library, with the books organized according to colours... :D @boxplayer I quite liked the lamps in this setting, too. I probably wouldn't buy that type for my own home, but they were super fitting for this little library / seminar room. @houdiniem Isn't it? Quite charming. :) @humphreyhippo Heh, they had a REAL library downstairs, with proper primary materials and so on. These are mostly publications in their own research series, I think, so that's why the uniform looks.
I must say I've never thought of color-coordinating my shelves. Actually I can barely keep my books from stacking themselves up on the floor. Wow. I don't know if I'd feel comfortable in that place!
@louuncouth A few years back there was even an interior design TV show here in Finland that suggested people should color-coordinate their shelves. No way I could do that! My books are arranged in a rather complex system of language, alphabet, theme and some by size. :D But I always know where my books are. :D This room was a seminar room, and I'm quite sure this whole effect was created on purpose, to match the lamps and create almost an artistic impression.
