@Taffy posted some pictures and referred to this challenge so since I had no ideas I thought I would use it for inspiration.
I looked up soft focus and found a way to do it using panty hose. Somehow I feel this isn't how she did hers but wanted to try the technique.

@taffy I am sure you got your soft focus by manipulating the camera not by tricks. I will have to do more research on the subject. Sorry for the boring subjects. Hot, sticky and rainy here.
Oh, my very favorite morning place - headed there now! Nicely captured! (I used the soft focus setting on my little point and shoot yesterday for the challenge...was fun experimenting)
I tried a coffee cup shot through panty hose as well for a soft focus. Then didn't like the result and posted mushrooms instead... It seems to me that soft focus well represents the unfocused energies prior to drinking the coffee. I don't really understand how you're using the word "addition" here.
@joansmor I realize I didn't answer your question -- I use Color Efex for post processing. I took the beach shot as high key but did a light edit to soften even more. You can't soften a harsh image but you can use post processing filters to fine tune.
