The sap is running. by joansmor

The sap is running.

We have had "warm" days and cold nights and so the sap runs. Weekend after next is maple syrup Sunday in Maine. So we need syrup for the pancakes. These were so close to the toad I could have dipped in and taken some. But of course I want the product not the raw material.
Great capture

Fantastic capture Joan....What would life be without syrup for our pancakes? Pretty dull I guess....:)

Such fun!

Seems odd seeing the sap being gathered to a snowy background but I'm sure it won't alter the taste. I remember from last year that you like your maple syrup: remember though Joan - a moment on the lips, a lifetime on the hips ;-)

Please ignore previous comment and eat vast quantities of syrup unburdened by any such worries. I love this picture btw; I like that the tree is more or less in the middle.

Oh yum, maple syrup. My Canadian friend tells me of how she used to make it warm, then throw it on the snow to harden. Good eating.

Oh, Joan, I didn't know you did this. Yum on the right out of the tree maple syrup. Excellent shot.

What a great shot -- pure maple syrup, nothing like it!

Wow! Your sap is already running? How lucky you are! Can't wait...we tap our own trees, Dave and I, and are looking forward to this. Nice shot Joan - it shows hope, for those of us still in the deep freeze out here.

@vignouse In Maine it is not uncommon to have snow when the sap runs.

@lindamp5 I take pictures I don't harvest sap. LOL

@francoise I often ignore Richard, he has rather gotten used to it.

@joansmor thanks for telling me. I have no idea … as a Northern Mainer …

So that's how they capture it.

Wow, the last year has just flown by. Just seems like a month ago I was taking pictures of the sap collecting in NH. We do miss that amazing maple syrup.

Interesting, maple syrup isn't popular here.
