These flowers/berries bloom on the tree my sister planted on my parents land. One day last week I was wondering where the berries were and two days latter the tree was covered. If you look you will see little balls on the end of the spikes of the flowers. These become ripe berries. When they ripen the Pileated Woodpecker will show up and drive off any other birds and gorge on these berries. Has happened for the last several years. Hope I can get a picture of him again.
This is Ivy...and there are many varieties. It's evergreen, a rampant grower, wonderful for flower arrangements as it is long lasting and very hardy. Interestingly, I've never seen a bird eating Ivy berries;-(
