Coming out

These pretty little purple flowers are perennials growing in the park area outside One Portland Square. I imagine after the ran they will be plentiful. I could have just posted one picture but wanted to show the beauty to be found even outside a bank.
This is Vinca... our garden is full of the damned stuff because Mrs S thought it was "too pretty to be a weed" - she now knows better!

@vignouse @atwinfay You are both right or as I have heard them called - periwinkle. In USA not a weed but an annual according to the "gardners network." Grown for the shinny leaves as well as the flowers and will bloom all summer. It probably spreads aggressively and that is why Richard calls it a weed.

@eyesmile @barbarajdonnellan See above I looked it up. Seen those flowers for years and now I know what they are. Love this site just for the education I am getting (and for the wonderful friends).

I really like the log in the picture. I think they're only semi-agressive because the root system is shallow and if you wish to (re)move them, they are easy to uproot and coexist well with other plants.

Lovely shot and great capture. My Grandma called this plant Myrtle.

@francoise It doesn't surprise me that you would know that. They are pretty ground cover.

@kbird61 Yes, that's one of the three names I found.
