J is for Jewelry Box

This was a gift from my Grandmother (in the picture behind). She gave it to me when I was 8. It has been well loved over the past 50+ years. Originally there was a ballerina in the center part of the box which would twirl around while "Love is a Many-Splendored Thing" played. The music box still works.

Thank you so much for all your comments and views. I am truly grateful.
Love this! Such a special treasure!

Nice choice for 'j.' The reflections of the box in the mirror are interesting to see. What a beautiful picture of your grandmother too.

I love your "J" - what a beautiful item to have. Your grandmother looks a very elegant lady.

This is lovely. Grandmothers know what an eight year old little girl needs.

@frappa77 Thank you so very much for the fav. I will have to keep this for a granddaughter (if so blessed) since I was gifted with sons but maybe I could start a family tradition Grandmother to granddaughter.
@chard Thank you, I feel lucky to have it still.
@stephanies Thank you, the memories of my Grandmother are fairly strong. I found this picture of her awhile ago and was rather amazed. Her family didn't have much money and the very wonderful dress and hat surprised me. I believe it was taken in 1909 on her 16th birthday.

@megpicatilly Thank you, the few treasures that I have from long ago are indeed truly special. My Grandmother's family didn't have much money being from a farming family in Michigan. I was very surprised to find this picture of her in such an extravagant dress and hat. The hat reminds me of the scene from "Titanic".
@octogenarian Thank you, she did really understand what was important to her grand children. I hope to pass this down to a grand daughter someday since my sons don't seem too interested in it.
