Cornerstone by joysabin

Cornerstone

Spent the last two days on jury duty. This is the corner of the old county court house in Flagstaff, still in use today. It was built in 1894 out of Coconino and Moenkopi sandstone which has a red color to it. Once of the taller buildings in town, it is now just one of many and somewhat hidden until you stand in front of it where it still is a dominating and impressive structure.
Great shot with the color graduations and textures, patterns...

@jeffinvt Thank you, this historic building is very busy but they don't use this entrance much any more.

this one was built to last!

It is a beautiful building. The reds and greens of the building stand out so well against the blue sky.

Love the low POV!

@cjphoto Thank you, many of the buildings are stone here, the town burned 3 times (last time was 1886-I think) and the ordnance of no wooden structures is still followed today.
@deborah63 Thank you, got some strange looks from the smokers who were just behind me as I took my shot.
@cscarr97 Thanks, I was feeling kinda over whelmed by the jury selection process.
@jerome I am grateful for the fav. This old building is a real gem and because it is stone, it is cool inside.
@chard It sure was, the last time Flagstaff burned (1886}they passed a law that no building could be wooden.
@megpicatilly Thank you. The red stone is very impressive, not as cool as the red rocks in Sedona (27 miles south) but not too many buildings used this stone.
@taffy Thank you, I almost feel backwards into the smokers behind me - me not tripping is a rare occurrence.

@susale Thank you, This door isn't used much so I had time to lean back and shoot.
@frappa77 Thank you, having my cell phone with me helped to keep going crazy while waiting to see if I would be selected- also I got to take pictures inside and out of the court house.

What a beautiful looking structure. Very dominating against the beautiful blue sky. Did you add a glow type effect to the tower? To me it looks like it glows, but it could just be the sun/ my eyes/computer. I like it, fav. Did you get chosen for a case? I would love to do jury service but I have never been called up :( My other half has done it 3 times - so not fair!

@stephanies I believe that I made a perspective correction but the glow was the light and mid-day bright sun. I wasn't chosen and am sorta glad because it was a murder/domestic abuse trial. It was scheduled to last 3-4 weeks and all sorts of things would have to had to be changed. I am very glad that I lead a rather dull life.
