When we lived above 8000 ft in Penasco NM we always recommended that visitors take liver n iron as well as B-12 for a week before arriving and have little ones & babies eat bananas & drink orange juice to ward off altitude sickness and general fussung. PS Really like this photo as it says Hi Country beauty.
@lanikyea Hadn't heard about the extras for elevation prep, thanks. I don't drive up there often, amazing how just a few extra thousand feet drains one.
@golftragic Flagstaff where I live is 7000 ft and I've been up there a couple of times and it is so worth the views.
@fbailey Thank you so kindly for the fav. I really like the solitude up there on the mountain.
It's so interesting in black and white- almost frosty! I remember being atop Pike's Peak and how much the altitude affected me- but I was able to conquer it rather quickly with some tylenol. I think I'd like Lanik's method better now. Great shot!

@jernst1779 Very appreciative of the fav. I walked the loop in the opposite way so I saw this area from a different pov.
@lsquared You should someday, just not ski season. Very grateful for the fav.
@samae Thank you so very kindly for the fav. I hadn't been up there for some time.
@yaorenliu I would love to see what you might 'do' with infrared. Check Ebay, there is a converted Canon power shot camera ( https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2334524.m570.l1311.R10.TR12.TRC2.A0.H2.TRS0&_nkw=infrared+camera+canon&_sacat=0&LH_TitleDesc=0&_osacat=0&_odkw=infrared+camera )
