I found out today that azaleas and rhododendron are in the same 'family'. My azaleas are doing better than many of my rhododendrons. I've lost at least two very large ones but it seems to have been the hot summer last year and lack of watering. Thankfully this azalea seems to have weathered the poor treatment. I have been sharing my coffee grounds with all of them.
Beautiful color. In our area the azaleas are much more able to take the heat than Rhododendrons. They both seem to do better when they have shade in the hottest part of the day.
