Burned prairie

Ventured to Findly wildlife refuge yesterday so I could scout out a potential spot for viewing the annular eclipse which will happen on October 14th. I noticed that a good swath of the prairie had been burned. It appears to have been a controlled burn. I know why this is done but it was still a bit of shock to see and smell.
I agree- it's a little disconcerting to see- but useful in the long run. I don't know if we're going to be able to see much of the eclipse here in PA. I have to do a little research. Interesting twist on the view through the fish-eye lens.

Looks sort of surreal. Neat image.

Beautiful sky. I wonder if they have ever considered goats. Our region has these goats that are moved around to all the open grassland. It doesn’t take them long to completely “mow” a field. They also provide fertilizer to the field for next year.

@olivetreeann @eudora @shutterbug49 Thank you a great deal. The use of goats is becoming more 'acceptable' these days. I should stop in and ask at the park office.
