PMAE No 20

Patience and luck! I think that is what I gathered from this shot. I went to the desert to practice my night work, star shots. It was much more cloudy and windy than I thought it would be thus, I didn't all that long. Before I left, I did notice some large white blooms on the side of the parking lot. At first I thought that they were trumpet flowers and was amazed that they would be living in the desert environment. I have since learned that they are a "Desert Thorn-apple". They are night bloomers so that is why I've probably not seen them before. My shot is very blurry and shot at a high ISO (1600).

I love the mystery of this!

@shesnapped Thank you so much, truly appreciate the fave. The wind was a game changer. The flowers were being buffeted about, felt sorry for them.

Like moon flowers I guess in that you have to be there at the right time and deal with low light photography to capture them. To me it makes them all that much more rare and special.

@gardencat Most definitely. I almost felt like it was a gift to just see them. I will have to go back and also try to see if I can get them locally. I don't want to steel them from a National Monument.

It looks very delicate - thought at first it was tissue paper with light behind it. Really like this shot.

@megpicatilly Thank you, the wind was really blowing these blooms around. I tried to capture them in a 'normal' way but it wasn't to be.

@joemuli Thank you very much, the high ISO helped but, I really have to give the wind more credit.

What an odd looking texture, slightly gelatinous and opaque. Interesting shot.

Love it, there is a sense of renewal from the image....

@s4sayer I think that the texture is due to the high ISO and the close focus not to mention the lack of light and that the flowers were moving in the wind that wasn't supposed to be there.

@pickerandagrinner You are so very kind, truly appreciate the fav. I love your comment. I think that I got lucky.
