PMAE No 209

A few saved and hidden items from a local author's old cabin/homestead. Conrard Harrison (1869-1930) was a local Flagstaff author who lived on 60 acres just below Mt. Eldon. He wrote 5 novels and several short stories and a significant amount of poetry.

I explored what remains of him home today with a friend who has been researching his life and work. It was a great pleasure to become acquainted with the man and "his place". Not much remains but it one looks closely you will notice several treasures.
"Good to the last drop" Sounds like a good description of his life. Love this composition!

After the war in one of the first packages from abroad there was a large black and red tin of coffee, Maxwell House. I can still remember the fizzle when it was opened -- and the wonderful smell of real coffee! Since then my mother kept coffee in that large tin with a tight lid.

I suppose the tin is still somewhere ...

@octogenarian Thank you so kindly for the fav. I remember my Mother opening cans of coffee too. She switched to freeze dried in the 70's because it was more popular all though not as tasty- I think.

@jernst1779 Thank you so much. This gentleman was a early fixture around town. I feel honored to visit and explore his homestead. It is not identified as his home but I know and cherish the knowledge.

@eudora My friend who shared this with me is an avid history buff and is very respectful and used to leave things where they were until she noticed that others just walked away with treasures that they 'found'.. These items are hidden so maybe they will last another 100 years.

@overalvandaan Thank you, the blue enamel ware was very popular in the late 19th and early 20th century around here. I have seen several other pieces.
