@joysfocus 12 hours had nothing to do with it. I think the choice of black and white processing and the posture of the rams give it the feeling that I described.

@tuya They are life sized bronze statues on a fake rock with a real waterfall. These are at the Viejas Outlet Mall in Alpine, CA. (San Diego County I think) Viejas is an Indian reservation. The casino is across the street. The mall is really beautiful in a Southwestern style with lots of little waterfalls and statues, and of course really nice outlet stores to shop in. Oh, and yes I did use Photomatix Pro 4 HDR.
