Mara studied at Wolverhampton Polytechnic and the Royal College of Art, London in the 1970s and later became Head of Printmaking at the RCA in 1990. His prints are heavily populated with details, colour and patterns; they are crammed with visual clues that seem to lead to possible narratives and plots.
