Tiny Door Snails are very different from almost all other UK land snails because instead of a rounded spiral their shells form a long spire. I found these under some tree bark so it was nicely damp and dark which they seem to like. The bigger one here is only about 1.5 cm long which is about as big as they get.
How beautiful. I don't think I've ever seen snail shells like these before...only the sea sort. And , what an amazing name....2 Toothed Door !
The name alone deserves a FAV.
@woofandweft1 it is a lovely name. I tried to find out why that name but had no luck. I suspect it is probably because of some tooth shaped area inside the shell or something.
@nitrogene thanks! I like to have a bit of info with the little creature's I come across so that I have a chance of remembering what they are myself. I have a terrible memory!
