In the woods around here there are so many fallen trees this year. This one has fallen right across the main path through Beer Wood so I guess the rangers will be doing some work with the chain saw soon. It has of course been very windy, but I also think that there are so many trees that have a variety of diseases and more vulnerable. Still, it's all part of the cycle of life and there are plenty of creatures that welcome the layers of rotting wood
We've seen so much of that around here, too. A year later and there are still signs in the parks that say beware of storm damaged limbs that may be hanging - as you say, a part of life.
All ways sad to see big old trees fall in the wind especially when you think of the age of them and what they will have survived in the past. But as you say - part of life and all good things come to and end sooner or later.
