Great Spotted Woodpecker (Dendrocopos major)

This female was picking insects from the bullrushes at Ham Wall RSPB nature reserve early this morning. I've often seen them on trees and even telegraph poles, but this is the first time I've seen them feeding on rushes.
Great shot. One comes to my bird table, but is very cautious and always flies away

Unusual and interesting shot. I suppose the will go wherever the insects are.
