Hershey's Kisses.. by julzmaioro

Hershey's Kisses..

Came across the most unusual fungi today in the bush.. I thought they looked like Hershey Kisses.. Real name as far as I have worked out via Google is.. Geastrum triplex Earthstar..
Most unusual to see any fungi in the bush this time of year ( Winter) so it was a real surprise..
Great shot, very unusual

Julia, how lovely. We have a similar fungus here in Australia but not as pretty and plain bone-salmon colours. We call ours and earth star, botanical name Geastrum species. it is interesting how the centre puff ball sheds its spores. When the rain hits the centre puff ball, it causes a smoky looking cloud of spores to erupt. BTW, I have stopped posting on 365, but have a look at photos and discussions from time to time. thank you for your support and friendship. I hope you are blessed with the energy and opportunity for great joy with your photography into the future.

@ethelperry Thanks for that Ethel I knew you would know all about it. @dide and I said you would when we were out in the bush.. I realized you are no longer putting up shots but I thought you may check in every now and then.. we miss you but pleased you can still keep an eye on us.. take care and keep checking in..
